How FPL price changes work

Prices in Fantasy Premier League move with demand. When lots of managers buy a player, his price goes up. When they sell, it drops. This page predicts who is close to a change so you can buy before a rise and sell before a fall.

What the columns mean

Progress is the number to watch. When it reaches 100% we expect a rise, and when it reaches minus 100% we expect a fall. Hourly change shows how fast progress is moving, so a player at 80% who is climbing quickly may change before one at 95% who has stalled. Change time is our estimate of when it will happen, and the price prediction shows what he will cost afterwards. Each change is worth £0.1m. You can search by name or filter by position.

Using predictions without overreacting

  1. Only move early on players you already planned to buy. Chasing rises for their own sake burns transfers.
  2. Protect your team value. If a player you plan to sell is close to a fall, moving him a day early keeps your money intact.
  3. Remember the selling rule. When you sell, you only keep half of any rise, rounded down. A small rise on a player you will sell soon is not worth much.
  4. Never take a points hit to beat a price change. £0.1m almost never buys back four points.

When prices change

Changes happen once a day, overnight UK time, and a player can only move by £0.1m in a single night. Big news, such as an injury or a hat trick, can push progress up or down very quickly, so the night after a big weekend is usually the busiest. Fantasy Premier League does not publish its exact formula, so our change times are an estimate based on transfer activity. Treat them as likely rather than certain. Our full guide to FPL price changes goes into the detail.
