How to plan your FPL chips

Chips are the few moments in a season when one decision can be worth twenty points or more. Play one at the wrong time and it is gone. This planner looks at your own squad and the weeks ahead to show when each chip is most likely to pay off.

What the planner shows

We read your linked team and score the next few gameweeks for every chip you still have. Your chip plan sets out the best week for each one. The week by week view shows how strong each option is across the coming gameweeks, so you can tell whether the best week is a clear winner or only just ahead. Team strength and predicted points give a quick read on where your squad stands, and the section on what we are watching flags anything that could change the plan, such as fixtures that might move.

A simple way to think about each chip

  • Bench Boost works best when all fifteen of your players have a game, ideally two. It rewards a strong bench, so it is often planned straight after a wildcard.
  • Triple Captain belongs to a premium player with two fixtures in one week, or a home game against a side that is leaking goals.
  • Free Hit gives you a one week team for when many of your players have no game, or when a week is full of doubles you cannot reach with normal transfers.
  • Wildcard is a full rebuild with no points cost. Use it when your team needs four or more changes, not to patch up one bad week.

How to use the plan well

Check back after every gameweek, because injuries and fixture changes can move the best week. If two chips point at the same gameweek, compare their scores in the week by week view and go with the one that has the bigger lead. And remember the plan is built for your squad.
